Job Profile

The Earthmoving Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of earthmoving equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers, and dump trucks. The role ensures that all machinery is maintained in safe, reliable, and operational condition in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on earthmoving equipment, including excavators, wheel loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers, and related machinery. 

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults involving engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, pumps, hoses, filters, belts, bearings, and other components. 

  • Carry out routine servicing, including lubrication, oil changes, inspections, and system checks. 

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems. 

  • Operate and maintain heavy industrial equipment safely and effectively. 

  • Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to accurately identify faults and verify repairs. 

  • Complete work orders, maintenance reports, and service records accurately and on time. 

  • Maintain and manage personal tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. 

  • Ensure work is completed within established timelines while maintaining quality standards. 

  • Support breakdown maintenance activities and emergency repairs when required. 

  • Participate in training and development programs as assigned by the Supervisor. 

  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and clients. 

  • Work flexible schedules, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays, based on operational requirements. 

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. 

  • Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. 

  • Comply with company policies, client requirements, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or technical certification in mechanical or automotive technology.

  • 2–5 years of experience in a mechanical or maintenance of earthmoving equipment.

  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, and basic electrical systems.

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.

  • Good physical condition and manual dexterity.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
